There's a reason this place has 4.3 stars with 468 reviews (as of the writing of this review). What a great Westport little gem it is. Had the opportunity to enjoy a great dining experience with co-workers. It's a bit nondescript from the outside but as soon as you walk in you're greeted by a very cool bar loaded with goodness and a bartender hard at work serving up delicious concoctions. We were quickly greeted, seated and our waiter was in crazy attentive throughout our time. The food was absolutely on point. Every plate was flavorful and their Happy Hour menu is quite robust. Some of the fav apps were the focaccia, lamb skewers the cheese plate. Main plates that stood out were the Steak Frites, Smashed Burger, and Halibut. There was also a Gnocchi Chefs Special plate that was described as small delicious pillows..how can one go wrong. And now the bestest part - cocktails! The Copper Rabbit is by far the best of the event. Closely followed by the Amaro Mai Tai. Overall a classy eclectic local joint with a chill vibe serving doing its thing and doing it well. Well played West Cafe. I'll be back..

WC's name doesn't do it justice, perhaps it should be "Je Ne Sais Quoi". Upon arrival, with First Friday in the Crossroads taking place, there was an extra energy in the air. The atmosphere and the clientele are eclectic. The food has a rustic farm-to-table flare, with a hint of playfulness. Our server took us on a journey; explaining the food, wines, chefs & their culture. Besides, you need to appreciate WC using recipes from a grand mere, wine made with grapes from a grand pere's vineyard and servers who add garnishes to their customers' food and drink orders. The wood chairs leave much to be desired, but overall c'etait excellent!

The Westport Cafe seems to have a split personality. First, it must be said that the food is superb - while there may be a handful of peers, there is no better French food to be had in the KC metro. The dishes are skillfully prepared and presented with European care and flair. If you go out in order to eat delicious things you could not do at home, this is one of those places. Unfortunately the atmosphere does not match the elegance of what is on the plate. Little round tables and hard chairs are somewhat rickety and less than comfortable. The bar scene is active, and the sound level, probably accentuated by the narrow configuration of the place and hard surfaces, is raucous. If that's what you're after, perfect - but it does not really conform to the seriousness of the cuisine, which does not require hush, but could benefit from the ability to have a conversation with your dining companions without having to yell. So which is it - a place to dine or a place to party? Nothing wrong with either one, but the two don't blend well (of course, the fact that it's been there for a long time suggests I'm wrong). My wish for them is a larger place with some separation between a more comfortable dining room and the bar, which likely would promote a better experience for all. Why not? I can dream - and in the meantime when I have a hankering for real French cuisine can live with the noise.

Some old high school friends were visiting from out of town, and they requested a place with good cocktails. The service was exceptional, with our waiter making sure that we got in under the wire for Happy Hour prices for both food and drinks. We've been several times and have never been disappointed.

Yesterday was my 6 month anniversary with my boyfriend, and while it's not really an "official" anniversary, we still wanted to mark the occasion with a nice dinner. As we are definitely foodies, I keep a list of all the restaurants we want to try, and I told my boyfriend to pick one and surprise me. Westport Cafe was the winner! Anyway, we had 7 pm reservations on a Friday night. We waited about 2 mins while they set our table but it was just enough time to really take in the ambiance. Definitely feels like brasseries I've been to in France. Beautiful bar and charming atmosphere. There's very little waiting space so if you don't want to be stuck potentially waiting on the pavement in the winter time, get a rezzie. That said, there only seemed to be one party of 2 waiting at any given time. We had a very nice waiter who got to our table relatively quickly. I put in an order for the Fair Apple cocktail and the barbajuan ravioli. Later my boyfriend ordered the Gascogne. I really liked my cocktail. I'm a fruity drink girl and that one could have been dangerous. Very caramel apple-y. My boyfriend's drink was similar to a Manhattan and he enjoyed it. The ravioli were SO yummy! The order came with 5, which I get from an aesthetic perspective but annoyed as a pair that we had to split the last ravioli the filling was so good and the sauce tastes like a light mushroom soup. My boyfriend ended up eating it as a soup when the ravioli was gone! For our entrees, I got the scallops and my boyfriend got the brisket. I loved mine. The citrus vinegar really cut through the richness of the risotto and the scallops. I didn't get a pic of my boyfriend's dinner but the plate was really beautiful. He really enjoyed it and the bites he shared with me were delicious. We ended with the profiteroles, since my bf is an ice cream fanatic. I loved the egginess of the choux and it was a lovely end to the meal. Throughout the meal, service was prompt and very friendly. We could definitely have hung around a lot longer, like a couple of Parisians, but we appreciated the pacing. Highly recommend for a fun night out with friends or a romantic date.

Great cocktails. Very unique and creative combinations of flavors. Same goes for the menu which has plenty of Mediterranean flair such as lamb kufta and even oysters.

This restaurant continues to impress year after year. I've been in countless times for dinner, brunch, dates, and just craving their fries. Dinner last night was another great dining experience. The escargot was presented out of the shell in a pastry crust with pesto and blistered peppers. The steak frites were excellent as well as the peach bread pudding was exceptional. Joshua was attentive and delivered everything perfectly.
